Q: What is ASTM?

A: ASTM stands for the American Society for Testing and Materials. ASTM International is one of the largest voluntary standards development organizations in the world - a trusted source for technical standards for materials, products, systems, and services. Known for their high technical quality and market relevancy, ASTM International standards have an important role in the information infrastructure that guides design, manufacturing and trade in the global economy.
ASTM committees are industry experts, engineers and doctors compiling criteria and testing methods for specific sports products. Phoenix uses this criteria as a product development "recipe" to make standardized vests and helmets. The products are tested in an independent lab to be sure they meet the criteria of the standard written by the ASTM.
